The Clothes We Let Go, The Confidence They Gain

A warm sweater may seem ordinary to us — but to someone shivering on the roadside, it’s hope stitched with dignity. Since 2020, Unimax Foundation has turned closets into comfort, and discards into dignity.

With the vision of Mr. Shivam Sharma, founder of Unimax Foundation, a quiet revolution of warmth began — not through factories, but through homes, hearts, and human compassion.

🧥 2020: Winter of Empathy

As the first winter after the pandemic approached, the streets filled with silence and suffering. Many homeless and slum dwellers, already ravaged by lockdowns, now faced the icy bite of December nights without shelter or sweaters.

Unimax Foundation stepped forward, collecting clothes from homes and donors across Delhi-NCR. Within weeks, a small drive turned into a full-fledged Winter Relief Campaign.

Volunteers didn’t just drop bags — they wrapped shawls around elders, helped children into sweaters, and ensured each donation came with a smile and conversation.

🧤 Growth of the Warmth Drive (2021–2023)

By 2021, Unimax had established collection centers in over 5 cities and began categorizing donations into:

1. Woolen clothes for men, women, and children

2. Clean, wearable blankets (kambal)

3. New undergarments and hygiene kits (added in 2022)

4. School sweaters and uniforms for underprivileged students

With support from community housing societies, schools, and corporate partners, Unimax Foundation distributed over 1.5 lakh clothing items in just three years.

🌨️ Blanket of Compassion: Saving Lives in the Cold

The most critical need was during freezing nights in Delhi, Punjab, and UP where temperatures dipped below 5°C. Many families living on footpaths and under flyovers had nothing but plastic sheets to cover themselves.

Unimax volunteers traveled across cities and rural areas distributing more than 60,000 woolen blankets to:

• Elderly people sleeping alone

• Orphaned and rag-picker children

• Labor camps and roadside tent families

• Sadhu-saints and wandering monks with no shelter

Each kambal handed over was not just fabric — it was protection, a hug from society itself.

📈 Impact Overview: 2020 – Present

Here's what the journey of warmth has looked like so far:

1. Over 2 lakh clothing items donated to the underprivileged

2. 60,000+ woolen blankets distributed across 7 states

3. Focused winter drives in Delhi, Punjab, Haryana, Bihar, and Rajasthan

4. Mobile vans delivering night-time relief kits (blanket + food)

5. Special children’s sweater kits given to slum schools and anganwadis

🫶 Restoring Confidence, Not Just Comfort

One young girl, wrapped in a donated pink coat, whispered to our volunteer, “Ab main school ja sakti hoon bina sharmaaye.”

That’s the power of clothing — it doesn’t just cover bodies; it lifts spirits, builds self-worth, and empowers dignity.

For many youth and elderly alike, these clothes were their first chance to attend community functions, schools, or job interviews without shame.

🌍 Vision Ahead

Unimax Foundation now aims to:

1. Launch a “Donate Before Winter” mobile app for doorstep pickups

2. Establish year-round clothing banks in 15 cities

3. Collaborate with tailors to refurbish and upcycle clothes for children

4. Distribute 1 lakh more winter kits by 2026

🌟 Conclusion: The Gift That Warms Twice

The clothes we let go often carry memories. When passed on with love, they don’t just warm bodies — they warm hearts, restore confidence, and protect lives.

“Jab hum kapde dete hain, hum unka kal nahi — unka aaj sudhaarte hain.” — Mr. Shivam Sharma
