Finding Solutions: The TP Find India Initiative
When hope seems lost and addiction consumes lives, a single helping hand can spark a turning point. For thousands caught in the trap of substance abuse, Turning Point India Foundation (TPF) has been that lifeline โ helping them heal, restore dignity, and rediscover life.
Founded in 2002 by visionaries Chander Shekhar and Jojo Thomas, TPF has created a movement of recovery, compassion, and reintegration for drug and alcohol dependents across India.
๐ฑ Foundation & Background: A Dream Born of Empathy
TPF began with a simple but powerful dream โ to offer free rehabilitation to those who couldnโt afford it. In a world where treatment is often reserved for the privileged, TPF opened its doors to the forgotten, offering a space of healing without judgment.
Their first free center, launched in 2002, was followed by a second paid facility in 2006 โ a sustainable model ensuring quality care for all while supporting operational costs.
โ ๏ธ Challenges & Struggles: Fighting on Two Fronts
The journey wasnโt easy. Beyond addiction, the team had to battle societal stigma, financial limitations, and an urgent lack of awareness. Over the years, they also took on the silent twin threats of HIV/AIDS and Tuberculosis, which disproportionately affect substance users.
But giving up was never an option. Because every patient saved meant a family reunited. A life restored.
๐ Growth & Milestones: From One Room to Many Roads
In 2010, TPF scaled its mission by launching its first HIV/AIDS prevention and support center for Injecting Drug Users (IDUs) in Panipat, Haryana. It was a significant milestone that brought healthcare, awareness, and compassion under one umbrella.
Yoga, meditation, nature therapy, education, and skill-building became part of daily life in these centers. From detox to reintegration โ each person was treated with dignity, not just medication.
๐ฅ Current Work & Impact: Lives Touched, Futures Changed
Today, TPF runs a structured, multi-city operation helping countless individuals recover and rejoin society. Their approach is unique โ preventive, curative, and educational โ addressing the roots of addiction while nurturing physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Whether itโs a young boy rescued from heroin, or a father restored to his children after years of drinking โ TPFโs success stories are not just statistics. They are testimonies of transformation.
๐ Vision for the Future: A Society Without Shame
TPF dreams of a world where addiction is not a life sentence, but a temporary detour โ where every person, regardless of background, has access to rehabilitation, respect, and the chance to start over.
The next steps? Scaling to more cities, integrating vocational training for all inmates, and building permanent recovery communities where healing and hope go hand in hand.
